For my birthday last year Peg gave me some Opal sock yarn and small double pointed needles. These socks represent the first time I knit in the round, which is why I’m not showing the cuff, it’s kinda messy. :-] I did most of the knitting on the plane ride out and back from visiting my cousin in Albuquerque.

Triniti’s Patriots Hat
This lil hat was for my newborn niece to wear while watching the Superbowl. I ordered a skein each of red, white, and blue of Lion Brand’s Pound of Love from an online site… it turns out each skein is HUGE – definitely each one is bigger than the baby. I don’t know when I’ll ever use this stuff up. If anyone knows a team of elves that needs hats… or perhaps some cold patriots?
Triniti’s Heart Sweater
True love in Rowan babies. for my lil niece. so cute that kid.
Summer Tank Top
Using a Berroco pattern and the glace rayon yarn, I made this as my first pattern to follow. It came out HUGE, but them my mother saved the day and took it in for me. I started it around Memorial Day 2004 and finished it around Labor Day 2004.
When I met my friend Maureen S. on a BSSC trip to Nantucket she saw me knitting this sweater and showed my how to knit Irish style so I could go faster. Because of that I was able to get a bunch of knitting done in 2004.
Peg’s Mittens
Here’s what I did with Lamb’s Pride Bulky Onyx for Peg’s Christmas present… Funny yarn adds the trim. I did ’em without a pattern, but had to pull a bunch out ‘cuz the first one I did starting looking more like a boxing glove than a mitten.
Eros Shawl
I wanted to try a shawl in the Eros ribbon yarn, so I made this for a friend at work. It was surprisingly quick to do.
Peg’s Noro Sweater
This is the lovely sweater and scarf my friend, Peg, just finished.
here’s her comments:
“In November, 2002, I visited a yarn shop in Camden, ME because I’d been thinking about taking up knitting. I walked out with 20 skiens of this Noro yarn and a pair of size 10 bamboo needles. The yarn was in a discontinued color and at half price ($5 a skien!) I first made the scarf on straight needles as a sort of learning-to-stitch sampler and then ripped it to make this 7ft. long scarf. I used #7 circular needles and 4 skiens of yarn. It took me over a year to finish the sweater. The pattern is a simple top-down, knitting in the round on size 6 and size 8 needles.. the yarn is a very forgiving one and a lot of fun to work. I gave away two skiens and still have three left.”
Colleen’s Crocheted Scarf
Look at this great scarf my cousin, Colleen, crocheted for me. She did it with granny squares and a funky metalic yarn, Berroco Quest. It’s gorgeous.
Thanks Colleen!
Baby Hat and Mittens
I made these for Trinii w/ Crayon’s Lite cotton yarn before she was born.
Quick Scarf
Here’s a blue scarf
made with the same Thick and Quick (Lion Brand) yarn that I made my first hat with.
I did a rib stitch, and it came out smaller than I expected. Not bad for a first project… I saw a how to knit article in Real Simple magazine and figured I’d give it a go.
